About This Product
Our own MASA Tortillas Blue Masa Harina is made from premium nixtamalised blue corn, bringing its distinctive colour, rich corn flavour and authentic character to your kitchen. Slightly earthier and more robust than white masa harina, it’s perfect for creating striking blue corn tortillas with the traditional taste and texture you’d expect from freshly prepared masa.
Simply add water and a pinch of salt to make a soft, workable dough ready for pressing and cooking. Use it for homemade tortillas, tostadas, gorditas, tamales and plenty of other Mexican and Central American favourites. Naturally gluten-free and vegan, it’s an easy way to add both flavour and colour to traditional recipes.
We developed our Blue Masa Harina to give UK home cooks access to great-quality blue corn flour that performs reliably when making tortillas from scratch. Carefully blended for consistent results, it produces tortillas with a wonderfully warm corn aroma, attractive blue-purple colour and satisfying texture.
1kg bag.
Ideal for a wide range of Mexican and Central American recipes. Use to make tortillas, tamales, hot cakes, corn bread and more.
To make tortillas: Mix 2 cups of masa harina with 1¼ cups of water and a pinch of salt. Mix and knead to form a soft dough, then press using a tortilla press, tortilladora or rolling pin.
Cook on a hot skillet, griddle or frying pan for approximately 50 seconds on each side. Keep the cooked tortillas warm in a tortilla warmer or stacked inside a clean tea towel until ready to serve.
