OUR STORY
Since 2015 we’ve been on a mission to bring an authentic taste of Mexico and Central America to the UK. We started pressing tortillas by hand for our taco truck ‘the little taquero’ on a manual tortilladora.
Our taco truck was slinging tacos into the mouths of the hungry South West for over three years using fresh hand-made tortillas. Unwilling to compromise on the quality of our fresh tortillas but struggling to meet demand, we invested in a tortilla machine – made in Mexico.
HECHO EN MEXICO
In 2018, struggling to keep up with the demand of our own taco truck we imported ‘Maria’ our tortilla machine ‘Hecho en Mexico’ (Made in Mexico). We started wholesaling tortillas to restaurants, street food traders, shops, delis and the public.
Roll on to 2022. Having catered literally 100s of weddings, corporate events, markets and festivals from our taco truck we felt enough was enough and it’s time to take back our weekends! We sold ‘the little taquero’ to concentrate on producing the best tortillas available in the UK. We rebranded ‘the little tortilleria’ into ‘Masa Tortillas’.
MASA TORTILLAS IS BORN
Our goal continues to be; exposing more people to the delicious flavours of authentic Mexican and Central American food. Our tortillas transport our customers to this amazing part of the world with their distinctive corn smell and taste.
In Mexico there is a tortilleria in every town and it’s common for tortillas to be delivered to your door, just like the milkman.
For the first time, our tortillas are now available on subscription! Have fresh tortillas delivered straight through your letterbox!
